Dharmakul : Acharyas The Managing Head Of Swaminarayan Sampraday
Swaminarayan Sampraday had been spread far and wide in India. To manage
the Sampraday easily, Lord Swaminarayan divided India into two divisions
drawing a boundary line from Calcutta to Dwarka and declared the boundary
places. North of this boundary is known as the Uttar Desh. South of the
boundary is known as the Dakshin Desh.
Lord Swaminarayan built two huge temples, one at Ahmedabad in which
He installed the images of Shree Nar-Narayan Dev and one at Vadtal in which
He installed the images of Shree Laxmi-Narayan Dev. The Lord made Ahmedabad
the centre of Uttar Desh and Vadtal the centre of Dakshin Desh. The north
is known as Shree Nar-Narayan Gadi and the south is known as Shree Laxmi-Narayan
Gadi.
For the installations of images in the temples and for the initiations
of disciples, He selected two member from Dharma Dev's family. Ayodhyaprasadji,
the third son of His elder brother Rampratapji, was appointed as the Acharya
of Shree Nar-Narayan Gadi. Secondly, He selected Raghuvirji, the second
son of His younger brother Ichharamji and appointed him as Acharya of the
south division i.e. Shree Laxmi-Narayan Gadi. He appointed and declared
them as Acharyas at Vadtal in V.S year 1882 on the eleventh day of the
bright half of the month of Kartik on Tuesday 21-11-1825 A.D.
Lord Swaminarayan authorised these Acharyas to install the images of
God in His temples, hence no one else is authorised for installation or
initiation as Lord has promised to reside specifically in the images installed
by these Acharyas and malpractice in worship of these images nullifies
if the images are not worship in the correct manner and God no longer reside
in these images hence worship to these images holds no significance and
they are no longer a follower of Lord Swaminarayan.
